well, I finished installing my 1.4 transfer case into the Disco and took it for a drive. It is poky, faster take off, doesn't feel like im dragging a trailer around everywhere now ...feels like it should! :D
I'm very happy with the outcome!
Disco with 33's with a 1.4 transfer =

Got it past roadworthy!
Also finally finished cleaning up my window switch panel. Also ordered some new hi-lo/handbrake leather boots, now looking at steering wheel covers and glovebox lids.
Also signed up for the D2 boys club forum, it's interesting to see the differences.
They all rip out ACE :eek::eek:

Changed the rear brake pads on the DII, and freed up a sticky calibre.
1st time changing brake pads on the DII, have to say one of the easiest things I have done, I think my motorbike pads take longer to change.
Will have to keep an eye on the calibre to make sure it isn't sticking again.

Finished replacing the heavy duty springs that rode poorly, for some LR Automotive softer with slightly less lift. Will see how it articulates this weekend.

Emptied the rear diff, pumped in fresh oil before realising I didn't have enough 80-90 to also do the front diff, so off to Repco in the Yaris to get some more, at 10% less for RACQ members. Reached for my wallet at the counter - and it wasn't there!:o Plonked oil on counter and said, "Sorry, forgot the wallet, hold that and I'll be back in a minute." Raced home, got wallet, returned paid for oil, went home and did front diff. All good.
Still can't get in to the check the transfer case oil though. Read the service manual, found what I think is the right plug, but the half-inch socket spanner won't budge it. Either its the wrong thing or I'm a weakling! :D
Good thing is I know it got a fill of fresh oil last year, so it might be OK until I figure it out. How often should transfer case oil be changed - same interval as diffs?

Not much - just swapped the reversing light for a 15w led lamp -errm- bright :o

I have been stockpiling some parts (as we do ) and used the long weekend to work on the D2 TD5.
Fitted new genuine radiator, new thermostat + hoses, swapped the intercooler with another second hand unit, new silicone intercooler hose set, new intercooler hose clamps.
Last job was to install an engine saver.
There was no way in hell I would have worked out how to remove the intercooler and radiator if it wasn't for the RAVE manual and Panzers D2 website.
Putting it all back together I would say it's not that bad once you know how it's done.

Just downloaded that RAVE file for the D1 - what a useful thing to have!
Its already answered a couple of questions I had.
