For the last month I have been driving around with no dash lights. A soon as the lights are turned on the dash illumination fuse blows.

So yesterday I decided to try and fix it. About six hours later all is fixed. Having no reliable wiring diagram really made it hard.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

This morning investigated a new clunk from somewhere underneath and towards the back on the 2a.

Found it quite rapidly - loose U-bolts. Tightened them, but I will have to do something to keep them from loosening again - they had new nylok nuts when I fitted the station wagon springs about six months ago. The front ones are double nutted, perhaps I ought to do that.

Went for a drive, clunk gone.

    time bomb

Stripped a D1 brake, pressure relief valve (PRV) down to see why they sometimes give trouble.

There is a ring inside that is supposed to slide when one of the brake circuits faults and looses pressure. This ring had never moved in it's life and was stuck solidly in place with corrosion, so I can only suppose that by the time a brake line fault occur's, these PRV's could be damaged beyond the point where they would work safely.

Over the weekend, the persistent and intermittant miss in Jess (S2A pet4) left me stranded at the side of the road. I changed the condenser and the coil, cleaned and reset the points, changed the dizzy cap, dismantled and cleaned the carby, and replaced the fuel filters. Nothing worked. It made towing a car- trailer virtually impossible.

I did eventually sort it, again at the side of the road - the pivot point in the points was dry so a quick judicious squirt of CRC fixed it!

What a waste of a day!!!

Thanks to Tim, Denis and Tomo for their help.

Drove home from a weekend of frivolity with Basils Clan in a D3 (Dads) - upon arriving at home got into the task of replacing the seized tensioner on the wifes D2 TD5 and fitting a belt that feels 2" smaller than needed! (Yes there is a trick to it)...

D2 running sweet as a button now

Will pick up the D4 again this week and then fit the underbody armour!

It probably is, as if it's straight it is unlikely to line-up with the rest of any Land Rover..

Did you think to check if the car was level first?

It's level with the bumper, which is level with the ground, which is level with the retaining wall, which is level with the top of the T and D in the Td5 lettering.
    So yes, it's level

I think the sloping angle of the back section, and the angle of the photo makes it look sloped.
