Spent the day with my sister cleaning out my father's shed (he died over thirty years ago - farm is being sold). Found a "Supplement No. 2 to Landrover 86 & 107 Workshop Manual". I don't remember it, but it must have been mine - I sold the workshop manual when I traded the Series 1 for a Series 2 in 1963, and nobody else has ever owned a Series 1.

Brought the back of the 2a full back here, and took a tandem trailer load to the tip. Continuing on Sunday.

Just 227, I'd stuck some on at Glenreagh last year, and it slowed it down fairly well, haven't had any drips on the drive since then.
I've degreased and wiped down the area, so that will help pinpoint the leak, but it's a fair bet it's the rear output.
Sleeved casing, rebuild kit, shims, sealant, etc is about $600 roughly landed from Ashcrofts, and I'll put the CDL lever in at the same time.
If I'm taking the case out, I'm going to do it once and only once.

I have just come in from putting all my rear trim back in. My reason for it being out is here.

    My Disastrous Trip Home

Hey Muppet, can I have some info on this new key fob you got?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Got my new tail shaft flex doover, gear box mounts and a bump stop.

And I picked up my roof rack yesterday. Now I just have to make up some gutter brackets and the roof top tent should be on by the end of next week. FYI there is only one gutter mount at the rear because the rack will be permanently mounted to the tent and the tent reaches the factory roof bars. So effectively the front will be held on to the factory roof bars making a gutter mount on the rack not needed.

I have previously plugged off the exhaust going to the EGR and I finally disconnected the vacum actuator off of the EGR butterfly and wired the butterfly open.

Why did you buy Britpart items? Given as they're rubber, they'll probably be ****, sorry to say it. Interested to see your rack once it's all finished

Today I did my flip key fob
And checked up on my TC leak. Seems it *may* just be the cover plate. There are only 2 drips, and they're from bolt heads and there's no 'trail' of oil from higher up to there, so fingers crossed!
I'll stick some sikaflex on them and run a spanner over them later.

Becasue they are a quarter of the price of the others and the parts I have aren't really that critical. Yes I know Britpart stuff hasn't got a reputation for being the best and if it was something like an injector harness or something like that, then I'd choose a more reputable brand and pay the money.

The bump stop that I have that is split through the middle and gapping about 5mm at the bottom, is only about 9 months old and genuine LR. The problem is it was Australian stock, old, hard and possibly perrished. The Britpart bump stop is still pretty ridged but the nipple on the end is definatly softer than the old hard Aus stock one that I fitted not that long ago. It didn't help that when I replaced it (them) the first time, my suspesion was completely shot and they were the first parts replaced on the upgrade. Oh and when I bought the vehicle there was less than 10mm of small chunks of rubber on the bump stop plates.

Next the flex tail shaft doover. Well the one I have is cracked a little and is probably fine but I'm replacing it just in case and then the old one will get chucked in my spares kit. So if the Britpart one ever looks like it's getting close to failing, I can always stick the old one back in until I can get a new one again.

Gear box mounts, well I have one that has seperated from the backing plate. The rubber looks fine but there is no trace of where it was attached to the plate on one side. The gearbox sits is the mounts like a V so there is no way the gearbox could fall out or anything but there is the chance it could move around and I suspect it would be putting more stress on the engine mounts so I'll replace both gearbox mounts.

Some things need to be top quality but others are not that critical. My centre muffler delete pipe is also Britpart. It's a peice of pipe with some flanges on each end. Really, how hard can it be and what can they really do wrong (as long as it fits). In that same order I got the centre pipe I got a new radiator. The radiator was not Britpart even thought the Britpart radiator was half the price.

    Happy Days.

True, but it's generally the rubber items from britpart that you avoid.
    No worries

5 new 265/75/16 Goodyear Durutrac's. Started modding the spare tyre carrier to fit the bigger wheel.
