Had the shocks and springs (original?) on the County replaced with an Old Man Emu kit. I know Bilsteins and airbags come highly recommended but usage is mostly daily driving with occasional off-roading, not hardcore at all. The OME kit just made more sense for the cents.
Mt Barker 4x4 did the work. Seemed to know what they were doing and were the only place I talked to who only installed the castor correction kit if it was needed after first attempting a professional wheel alignment without it. As it turns out, it wasn't needed in my case so the job cost $300 less than I was expecting. Total was about $1500 from memory.
Have only driven it about 20km on the road but it already feels a hell of a lot better. Goes likes its on rails through the Adelaide hills. Happily hitting unfamiliar corners at 60km/h in the dark. Still exercising good judgement.
The Mt Barker 4x4 team did discover an elongated shock mount hole on the driver's side of the rear axle that wants fixing ASAP to prevent damage to the new shock.
Fitted doors.

Which kind of doors are they? (ie, earlier defender type or puma type?)
It's a 97 defender. Just doors off same model.
Matt
Replaced transfer case with one I have been preparing over the past couple of days (new seals, all sealed up, replacement input shaft etc..)
Also fixed a leak on top of my gearbox (just under the gear stick)
Also replaced all my door rubbers with new ones
Also replaced all the rubber floor mats
Actually its been a pretty productive day considering !
...of course while laying under the 110 I realised my lhs rotor, rear diff pinion and sump are all leaking...4 weeks until the cape trip, so much to do !!
Actually yesterday,
Got my UHF antenna tested with a VSWR and was told the radio is putting out full 5W but 3W refected.
Repaced the cable, got it tested again. Was told there is nothing coming out of the radio.
Tested the cable and antenna only and told the connector was faulty so I got them to replace it with a crimp on connector. Antenna finally passed but I believe the reception was better with the connector I had soldered on.
Wishing I owned my own test equipment so I could learn how it works and what is good.
Happy Days
Hi All,
I just finished fitting a 42 Litre Front Runner Water Tank. It fits in the empty space in the L/H rear guard area, just above the rear muffler. first impressions are good. Nice and tucked away so not taking up precious room inside.
I fitted the outlet tap to though the rear cross member rather than bolted underneath as the fitting instructions say as I think it will be better protected above the departure angle line.
I'm going to fit a water filling flap to the outside guard as I don't like the way it fills at the moment. Its inside the car and the screw top filler isn't vented so the tap 'bubbles' as it draws air as it drains.
Pictures soon!
Cheers.
