Hi Ratel10mm
There is a really good thread already on the go about the bleeding of series brakes, can I get you to post your question there?

After getting my near siezed alternator reconditioned and replacing the completely buggered battery - she is running like a dream
Very remiss of me, I forgot to mention I fitted a new Rijidij wheel carrier to the Defender a month ago.
And may I say what a well made and presented piece of kit it is too.![]()

Made up a plate to patch the hole in the passenger side footwell. Ground back the bog (& oversprayed with one-step rust guard enamel to show willing).
Discovered that the windscreen wiper switch appears to have given up the ghost - no power through either connection.
Attempted to bleed the brakes. What idiot put the bleed nipple where you can't get at it!? Gave up after a while, I just can't tell if my vac pump is dragging air in around the nipple or if it's coming from somewhere in the system. I couldn't get bubble-free brake fluid flow regardless of what I tried.
The master cylinder does look a bit weepy, so I reckon it's time to replace that with a new one.
Nothing - just took it for a quick run down the coast, needed to stretch its legs.

Topped up the transfer case, got under and had a close look to check for more leaks, or loose bits, [ one day I'll actually know what I'm looking at] got the torch and gave the engine bay a close check, getting ready for a short one dayer on the old Cobb @ Co track up thru the Glasshouse Mts. to Coochin Ck. Bob.

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
Picked up my new Optima battery from work (thanks rrtirboD) cleaned out the battery box, plenty of red dust in there.
Swapped out one of my old Optimas (dated 08/06/02) and dropped in the new one, ready for next years trip.
So now one just over one year old and one new one.

knowing fully well that I am a fat head for drowning the winch and leaving it for about 5 years (gee and I wonder why it's seized) I finally pulled it off to strip down and see how much damage I have caused through being so slack.
cant pull it apart it's so corroded or full of gunk. So heaps of inox, liberal amounts of oil poured in as well, have lunch and see if I can get it apart.![]()
Took it in for rego check - another year to go, just have to pay for this one now.
Adjusted valve clearances yesterday.
