    Crook tooth made me happy

Dodgy tooth in the head, needs removing as it is past it's used by date.
    Will the Defender save me?
The Defender delivered me with time to spare, the Dentist staff were pleased to see a fresh customer in their premises, so then the Dentist was happy because his staff are happy, then I was happy with the pain killers in me, so everyone was happy because the Defender was so dependable and delivered me on time.
The tooth was filled, so it stayed in the head for now, granted a reprieve from a hole in the head, I drove happily, the hero Defender home.

Back last Saturday Ezyrama came round, with a plan to convoy to his place so we could bleed Beast's brakes properly & attend to a couple of other items. First, we set the tappets as Ian had had similar starting problems with his S3D when he set the tappets incorrectly. (must update my thread!) Then we decided to do an oil & filter change while we were at it, 'cos the tappets were black.
Naturally, after this TLC Beast refused to start!
Found a leak in the fuel line, fixed. Tried putting the old fuel filter back, bled the system twice, checked fuel getting to injectors, blah blah blah.
The old oil combined with a lighter gets tempting at times!

    Bloody bloody bloody bugger

I took tomorrow off so I had a 4 day weekend to play in the landy you know go somewhere do something with the family. Started to fault find the AC to work out why it's not working - smoke starts coming out from bottom of engine, so I quickly turned if off got the fire extinguisher just in case. No need for it but for god only knows what reason I have fried my starter moter.

Easy to remove 2 allan head bolts and 3 wires; well I can get the wires off but do you think I can shift the bloody allen head bolts not a bloody chance, so can start it, cant move it, and cant get the bloody starter motor off AAAAARRRRGGH.

It has been running like a dream!

Replaced HT leads, Distributer cap, rotor button and coil.
Idles better and now runs on all 8 cylinders instead of 7 (at idle).
Could see the coil arcing to one of the terminals in the dark.

I am going to get a 1/2" drive allen head tomorrow to try to get the damned thing off. I can't believe how tight it is given that it's going into aluminium - I'm sort of thinking that it must have been locktighted when the new engine was put in?

Better get a couple of them.
I broke 1 Unbrako and bent 1 before I got my starter motor off. Damn they were tight. Had to use a ring spanner in the allen key and a combination spanner on that to get enough leverage.
