Did my timing belt on my D1, almost stripped my crank pully removing tool as the pulley was stuck due to someone's previous use of loctite

Fitted a Tom Woods drive shaft to my D2, I was hoping that my old drive shaft was the reason for the extremely clunky auto gear changes.... I'm cautiously confidential I'm correct. Thankfully it's not a $4000 transmission!

    frozen motors

Today I freed up a 2.6 Land Rover motor after it sat around for years without the head on it, couple of the bores had rust in them.
I left the motor standing for about six months, with the pots full of diesel and that has done the trick by softening the rust.

Trying the same with a Rover 3 litre car engine, it might take a while, but then I only want the crank and con rods.

I drove my 02 D2 Td5 after a number of weeks in intensive car (the car!). Following a hydraulic lock due leaking head gasket.

Now - new head, water pump, engine mounts, transfer case overhaul to finally fix the leaks it is the smoothest I can recall since new. Very happy with that.

Just happened to be passing Rover Tech yesterday pm... relieved them of a new brass radiator plug. - (Always wanted one...)
Fitted it on the spot, and very glad I did. - Plastic one was leaking and disintergrated as I undid it...

    Best value $10 ever spent.

Changed the engine oil and filter in my RRS - easy peasy but I did wreck the old filter getting it out of its housing.

72,000km service - will do the rest after Xmas.

    Checking the gusset plate's

Today, Tony from Adventure Bay and myself, had a interesting time checking out the gusset's on 'HECter' and 'Monty' .

For those who have to ask, it's a series one Land Rover thing and you won't understand.

Slight improvements were made to the strength of the bulkhead / firewall fitted to the Series one 86" and then the Series one 88" over time.

Gusset's were welded between the top of the foot well and the centre of the firewall on the engine side on the 1955 86", whereas the 1957 88" had a panel with a rolled edge fitted between both foot wells.
