On Saturday morning the green Hiline got an oil and filter change, rear suspension trailing arm bushes and the steering drop arm tightened. It drives much more nicely now.

    Fuel leak

A few weeks ago I removed this carburetor

and disassembled it, replacing what needed to be done, put it all back together and lo n behold it leaked fuel at the union, remembering a long time ago ( nearly 40 years ago) we were out from Pilliga NSW in a mates Series 1 fitted with a S2A 4 cyl engine, when he stripped the thread for the union nut on the carby body long walk to anywhere no mobile phones back then, so being mindfull not to over tighten that union bolt, well it leaked

I looked at it and carefully applied a little more tension to the union bolt, I think that I now have it fixed, well I hope I do LOL cheers Dennis

Well the alternator packed it in yesterday, so in the arvo I set about installing the 120 amp alt from my spare au falcon, have to wait until Thursday or Friday to go get some billet stock and lathe up a custom pulley, until then a donor alt out of my neighbors XF is running the show quite happily

Was down on power(Td5) so I investigated. First thought was delaminating hoses, so I removed them all and they looked ok.

I then plugged in Nanocom, who told me turbo over boost. This was about three this arvo and being Christmas eve I could not find a LR spare parts shop open.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Unpacked the Santa sack early and attempted to identify some 2A gearbox parts I picked up the other weekend. A real lucky dip situation.

Me and gearbox parts? Well, lets just say I'm on 'red tabs'. Its been like schoolwork, checking out diagrams in the LR Parts Manual.
