Walked past the 1968 2A, went back inside to get the keys came out and started it up to listen to the sweet 2.6 lt. six running.
Washed it again, only had it 3 days

Took the County for a bit of a night drive to see what improvement the Traxide headlight wiring upgrade had made.
HUGE difference - they're real lights now
Just need a decent alternator now and the electrics are about done...

Foam is readily available:
Britcar (UK) Ltd > HGB101070 PAD SEAT BASE FRONT(-)POWER SEAT DIS2(G)
Cover Assy - Front Seat Cushion - Genuine Land Rover at www.rimmerbros.co.uk
The cover part number depends on trim colour and pattern. This is what I ordered for mine:
Britcar (UK) Ltd > AWR3430LPW SEAT SQUAB BASE GREY (-)LOGO DIS11 (G)
Land Rover - Cover Assy - Front Seat Cushion - Genuine at www.rimmerbros.co.uk
It requires a session with Microcat to locate the correct part number.
cheers

Removed the front bumper and drove the D2 to the local mechanics to have a mounting plate for a Bruce Davis recovery point welded to the chassis.
Franz - I used some Alpine G series speakers as per the link - they are actually 6.5", not 6" as the link says.
Alpine 70 Watt RMS Splits - Speakers - JB Hi-Fi - Smashing Prices!
JB had another 30% off over the weekend so they were just over $80 a pair, bargain!
I had to put new connectors on to feed the speaker input to the crossover unit. Physically the speakers went in with a quick run around the existing hole with a stanly knife to increase the diameter fractionally. Tweeters on the rear doors were mounted externally rather than flush so I can just plug a small hole if I sell the vehicle and strip the stereo out later.
Front tweeters fitted into the exisiting a pillar mounts on mine.
I seem to be getting a lot more mid range detail now - not spent a lot of time in the car yet but I think my wife has noticed the difference... I've alos got them hooked up to an aftermarket alpine head unit and not the standard LR unit.

After 'Fred' tormenting me by overheating while we were tripping about in Victoria, I walked past him and thought "I'm watching you, so just give me one good reason why I shouldn't be wrecking you for parts".
The Wife and I then to travel into town, climbed into 'Daisy' who doesn't give any trouble even after it doing over 530,000 Klm's, leaving 'Fred' with a question mark over his future.
Things do wear and I remarked to SWMBO-always, that 'Daisy's springs are too settled and I wonder if having the springs reset would be the most cost effective repair, given that repairing by fitting second hand springs may introduce other problems, such as a more hash ride?
