Fitted HID kits to the high and low beam on the L322. 55W, 4500K in the low beam,,and 55W, 6000K in the high beam.

Bloody brilliant for $70!. I love ebay...

And don't worry, you won't be blinded by them. The lamp assemblies were always designed for HID's, but mine didn't come with 'em.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

This morning the D1 4.6 got a long awaited Tornado chip upgrade courtesy of Mark Adams (RPI performance).
A big thanks to Jurgens (best4x4xfar) and his chaps for the awsome soldering job.

So far first impressions are bloody excellent with a very noticable bit of extra grrrrunt, now to see if I can manage to use a little less fuel..... I doubt that will happen somehow.

Then got home $900 lighter with a new heavy duty front drive shaft which I put in the D2 TD5 as she spat a uni joint on Monday after a big weekend carting soil for the now very expensive vegy patch.

    Cheers

    Ben

You'd have to be part of the 1% of HID fitters who consider this before thinking brighter is safer. I drive north up the Calder at night twice a week and overly bright or poorly aimed lights have become one of my zero tolerance peeves. Let's not even get started on the peanuts who need high beam to drive a 4 lane freeway. I pass at least 10 cars per trip up and back that need their lights corrected with a ball pein hammer. So, consider this a long winded thank you

Been sprucing up the newest addition to the family.
A 93 built Disco TDi. A bit of a test drive around our local lake tracks has convinced me she's a little beauty.

Put some "real" mirrors on her today, three point mounted truck style mirrors, easily folded back for any tight offroad spots. I can't cope with those dinky little standard jobs, all electric gizmo adjustment things. Still not sure if I should completely remove the standard mirrors, advice in this respect would be welcomed.
Also put the cargo\dog crash barrier in the back. Keeps the white bull terrier hair in the back instead of on our seats.
Got to replace the LH side headlight and indicator when they arrive next week, last owner hit a roo crossing the hay plains, both still function but have no lenses. Until then no night driving as the headlights are not so well aimed without the lens.
Then a good clean up, wash and light polish, then hit the muddy trails again I suppose.
OK, maybe pass on that last part about a wash and polish, after all I do live out country so she'll be getting dirty pretty often.

Nothing special but spending money on parts for the next kitting up session of Charlie.

Ordered some lights for the NOS rear kaymar bar I got in the ARB clearing sale recently and picked up a new set of wheel arch mouldings and genuine rubbing strips off gumtree tonight. Never fitted and at 2/3 the cost of the same ex uk it's a bargain I couldn't pass up

After much procrastination ordered a pair of rear axles from Ashcroft. Soon to be paired with the Ashcroft locker that is now fitted to my spare diff. I couldn't bring myself to installing the new diff with the old axles...

Perhaps if I hadn't broken all those Series axles in my youth I may have not bothered to upgrade.
