    Same as the others

I follows a similar step to the others - used Petrol, sloshed back and forth let it sit for an hour, then drained and used a compressor to blow out any fumes.

fitted airbags in the springs, third attempt on the passenger side got it all working right, thanks baz.
finished off the rear draw setup which i have modified from previous.
replaced a loose rivet in the passenger door so no more rattle.

bloody sore legs now from doing the airbags/springs...

Before you hook it back up just make sure there is no rag left by a previous mechanic inside the engine side of the intercooler, I was trying to find out why a D1 had poor performance and must have dislodged it from inside the bottom of the intercooler.

I found this rag hidden in the intake port inside the head, after this engine (300TDi) was blowing black smoke and acting like it was going to jump clean out of the Disco.
I looked for a air restriction but couldn't see any restriction then felt something catch when I probed the last air intake port with a wire with a hook on it.
After I had removed the rag and replaced all the bits, I started the engine it ran completely normal.

So with black smoke look for a problem with the air flow, White smoke a problem with fuel supply.

Start the engine and give it some revs - the tubo did a very good job of pushing the water out of the intercooler...

Once there are no more signs of water. Connect up the boost pipe to the engine, test drive it and give it back to the driver.

The metho and hair dryer/compressed air sounds like a better idea though...
I like it! good old fashioned get it going smarts. I think I will borrow the next door neighbours air compressor though , & metho . Besides, the missus read this thread & has hidden her hair dryer. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Replaced the DOA fuel pump on the Aux tank on the D4.

Thankfully they have been bitten so many times now - they have changed to a higher spec, Facet unit which is sealed and much more reliable over the 'knock off' unit they were using.

A few bolts, a wire or 2 and the pumps knocking away nicely

That's one more job done before the Maralinga trip.

I think I've finally traced the source of an annoying intermittent clicking sound.

No stones in treads anywhere, no loose shackles or shocker bits, it was driving me crazy.

I noticed something in the breeze yesterday.
Saw something moving under the right front mudguard.
Whoever put the alloy bullbar on my disco1, never removed the small struts that connected the front guards to the original bumper and they were just swinging in the breeze and occasionally hitting on the edge of the bullbar.
So I removed them, they weren't doing anything anyway.
At least I hope that's what has been making the clicking sounds over bumps.

It can also be the brake pads rattling around in the callipers
