Was in town today to pick up some polypipe with my trailer behind the 110.

Stopped waiting to turn right, and was run into from behind. Trailer was relatively minor damage - damaged override mechanism and a broken tail light lens, plus a bit of paint off the other car. II0 has serious damage to the rear crossmember and towbar. The Falcon is a writeoff.

Red P-plate driver, in the middle of Dubbo, sunny, dry, fairly light traffic.

That's bad, some drivers are just not on the ball.

Received the UHF aerial in the post today, so added it to the pile of things to be fitted to the new Defender. The pile is:

    Extended front seat runners
    UHF unit and aerial
Headlight covers - foul the ARB bullbar, so the corner of the perspex will have to be carefully trimmed to fit
Bolts to extend the opening of the rear passenger doors to 90 degrees
    Electric brake controller

Also, the rear wheel carrier and stay for the rear door are due to arrive on November 21.
So, looks like I'll be roping the youngest heir in to help me with a day of fiddling coming up. Should be fun.

The lights work, but in bright sunlight and with the coating of dust from the trip into town, they may not have been too visible - but clearly visible in bright sunlight is the 2m x 0.5m white tailgate on the trailer, at about driver eye level for the car that hit us. And I had been stationary for about thirty seconds and did not have my foot on the brake, as it was level, so there was no stoplight showing (dead level and I was about to start forward as a gap in traffic the other way was coming up. The blinker was going, but probably not all that visible in the direct sunlight on the dusty lens).

Sorry to read about your troubles John.

Once kids get their licence the rule book seems to be forgotten, especially the bit about vehicle separation.

Just watch your insurance mob doesn't whack a non repairable write off on the Defender.
Arm yourself with a few pictures of replacement rear cross members and the quotes to change it over, before they get all funny about structural damage.

More the point, how is your neck after that shunt in the rear? Your spine will need a good check out from a competent medico for effects of whiplash.

Today I'll do the documents to post off to try to get a rebate on the 10 months of NSW registration which was still remaining when I surrendered the NSW plates to the Queensland department yesterday. Fingers crossed.
Jeez, they shaft you up there. In Vic you only pay stamp duty when purchasing a car. So if coming from interstate you already own the car, so no stamp duty.

As for getting a refund, you can uncross you fingers as you will get one.

My son a few years ago purchased a car from NSW and when he changed it to Vic he got a NSW refund.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

No symptoms, but I'll keep an eye on it. Not much of a shunt - the heavy trailer and the bending cross member absorbed a lot of the energy.

I am amazed about the trailer - only damage (apart from some blue paint off the car) is the override coupling was twisted when the coupling hit the anti-rattle bolt on the upright of the tow hitch as the tow bar tong bent and the crossmember twisted, breaking the lugs that form the fulcrum for the lever that works the master cylinder, plus a slightly broken lens on the LH tail light.
