Maybe flagg will give you a run for money with his R380 then! Maybe someone has an auto 4bd1? That could be scary!

Haha yeah. Once. With flat top ready to take me home even with no turbo II spend equal time changing gears and under drive 0-100.

Petrols run a reasonably fixed A/F ratio. So you can't get cool exhaust through the turbo. Lower power just means less gas flow (throttled intake) and the turbo struggling to cool itself down.
So they need water jacket cooling to protect the turbo at shutdown.

Diesels run lots of excess air, lower load means lots of cool (comparatively) exhaust which cools a turbo down nicely. As Justin said, don't shut down till the pyro shows 200C and you're good. On my engines 180C is warm idle.
