The lifters are supposed to be the same as the red motor. (Except you need more of them. I just thought I'd point that out.)
I'm a bit worried about you using the word "cheaper". "Quality" is what you need for cams and bits.
Since I am forced to pull the heads on the 4.6 it's also time to renew the cam which was transplanted from the 4.0 when swapped. This was due to information at the time telling me they were the same. Today's info tells me they are not and so will be replaced along with lifters. Given that the original cam will be worn but added to that the wrong one, could this be the cause of a few issues. One, economy, 350k's to a tank at best, two, cam angle sensor fault, originally intermittent, changed to a new one and the fault became persistent.
I remember a post saying the lifters are the same as something holden probably, can anyone tell me what and are the cheaper sourced as cheaper manufacturers parts over Rover.

At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
I still regard my economy as merely appalling, I save references to horrendous for the supra. At 35l/100 it makes the disco look like a prius, more so when it runs Elf 116 at $8/L.
And don't knock the echo, I can build you a sub 10 second Echo if you want.
Either 9AGE it or 1GG-ZZE Twin turbo & S/charge
Cheaper is relative when it's vs genuine prices. The cam for instance is 40 pounds from the UK, here I'm expecting $200- +, but don't want to delve into the vagaries of aftermarket stuff either, it's a minefield and I'm used to working in extremes when it comes to cams, I wouldn't know where to start on something the doesn't rev past 4 numbers and lift less than 2.
I was hoping the lifters were an option due to numbers, red motors last forever, and I've never seen one have the lifter issues that rover V8's do, cracking/pitting/wearing etc. Same goes for the cams, plenty of lube will be used that day.
