There is one Land Rover axle that has a chance at taking some of that power...... A Land Rover 101 front axle..... Salisbury center, huge shafts and even larger CV's, and there are disk brake conversions for the ends.... Mine is currently dealing with a Cummins 6Bt... Not 500hp I know, but the torque would be up at the figures you are talking about, and its sat on huge 255/100 R16's....... You're only other option is the front Sals, (or at least a home made one, using Ashcroft CV's and HyTough axle shafts. (They can make up Sals front shafts)...

Either way, hope its not a pretty toy, applying 500HP in the bush is not about keeping a vehicle pretty
With the front diff as you know with the LS engines you need to be carefull of sump clearance, a low pinion 9" might just squeeze in and depending on your engine mounts and sump choice, but at this point im going with maybe P38 rover housing 24spline Ashcroft gear in the front, with Ashcroft CW&P and Ashcroft Puma Locker. (From memory)
Unless you are belting up a hill in reverse most of yout loading will be on the rear diff so it should be fine, if it does go then will upgrade the front to a 9 also.

As previously mentioned, this wont be a one off build, LRA have commissioned for a jig to be made. Also i know they have ordered 3 Rover 9 hybrids to be built already(one is mine), they intend on making them avail for future builds and people that want to upgrade the "Puma" diff etc.

How did you find your 9" all things considered and how was it built, specs etc?

My build will be 100% engineered onroad so it will be enjoyable on and offroad, Just becuase a build has a nice paintjob to finish it, doesnt make it a pretty toy, 500hp 6speed auto and 9"diffs are not specs for pretty or a toy, PS the engine will have the ability to be detuned for offroad, it will also have approx 50.1 lowrange. Lets keep this ontopic please leave the "500hp is too much for the bush talk" for other slower threads

9" was ford centre, rover tubes, 31 spline axles, I pulled it for a maxi rear way back when, prob 10+ years ago

Cool, more than welcome to come bush with us when its built and see how it holds up

That looks like it would be a good option with the Solid Centre and cut the tubes to be inline with rover track at the same time, however what stud pattern and what would the availability of the 101 fronts, rare as hens teath or are there a plentiful supply so this can be done over and over..agree with rovercare 1 off diff builds are a pain.

Sals front with solid centre or a shave and ARB cover would also be a good option, but not cheap and again hard to find, however there is one for sale on here for 2k, prob only one in oz.Cant believe it hasnt sold yet.

Thanks, how did you run 31spline at the hub? Machine work or new spindles and bearings? And what flanges?

No worries, sounds good, if you can catch up what engine are you running currently?

150hp@3800rpm is surely not right from that setup.
    Cheers
