It depends on how far afield you are travelling. For local travel I carry no spares except the spare wheel and fan belt. Further afield, a few items such as amalgamating tape, silicone gasket maker, electrical wire, spare engine oil, spare bulbs, brake fluid, points, coil, capacitor.
For a major trip, especially to remote areas, I might add a selection of bolts and nuts, pair of rear half axles, a spare universal, an extra spare wheel, EP90, clutch and brake hydraulic overhaul kits, hub seal, bars leaks.
But mainly do not leave home with dubious parts - if any doubt about , for example, radiator hoses, replace them. The system does not stress them that much, they won't fail unless in really bad shape. Basically, "know your vehicle".
