Plenty of articles under Disco 2 headlight upgrade- I even read of a LR magazine doing it. But remember you not only have to source headlamps, but the front panel sheetmetal - and do some rewiring, plasma cutting and some careful mig welding.
is there a free guide to do this ive tried searching but only found 1 link that want $20 for a guide

Them you still have the rear lights, interior bits, front bumper and wheel arch flares.
I'd say you'll be spending upwards of 3 - 5k on bits to make it happen.
Saying that if you are thinking of doing it to make a profit by passing the car off as a newer model I hope you get caught and charged scumbag
hell no i just think the front lights are way sexier rest will say the same.

lol. That was a bit Harsh Dobbo. made me laugh though.
By the look of his other threads it looks like his partner has him by the nads and he's keeping it anyway. She's doing the right thing though!
think your out of order dobbo jumping to a conclusion like that! and that man deserves an appoligy
i too like the lights and if i had a 2000 i would consider changing the lights also!!.......if you go on UK ebay you can usually source the lights on there to do it, i have looked at it before but found out its not possible on a d1 without it looking like a really bad hash job...so 99 might mean its not really do able depends how later build of your 99 maybe because our 99 v8 was still a d1 but last of the d1's before the d2 was released
the same guy also does the guide i think!!
good luck with yeh project
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
how do i find out if its a d1 or d2. The car is a 99 ES V8 4L auto.
am i right in thinking the 4L v8's were from d2's and the 3.9's were d1's.
Yep i know i've been pounding thease forums. but before i spend $$$ i want to make sur eim doing the right thing.
And yes i think i will keep it ist a bargin, its not she has me by the nads its boobies can do magical things to men lol.
only other disco experience i had was my ex had a 95 disco, her mum had 97 disco and her old man had a 03 TD5 hence why i light the lights (her sis had 3.9 v8 and grandad had Turbo dielsel as well), all were turbo diesels, and the TD5 had no side steps and was a darn pain lol.
On a side not im looking for cheap sisde steps and those rear liner things that are plastic and have sides on them.
As well as LPG info as i've been told this car has to be cheaper to run than my XR6 (16l per 100km)
PS cheers for every ones help im lecky buy trade any help needed in this area just ask
If it is badged as a 4L then it is a Disco2. If it is the same as the Td5 you mentioned then it is a Disco2. If it is like any of the others you mentioned then it is a Disco1.
If it has flush door handles then its a Disco1.
If it has grab type door handles then it is a Disco2.
I think you mentioned it needed replacement rear air spring parts in another thread. If so it is a Disco2 as Disco1 didn't have rear air springs at all.
If i'm right in saying all ES are 7 seaters then a nice easy way to tell would be if the 3rd row of seats fold down to face each other sideways it's a D1 - if they fold down to sit facing forwards like normal seats it's a D2.
