Ok thanks lokka for the info on the later rangie gear box. Will look into that. Jerrd have been to wikipedia. My old motor only gets a mention in the list of Isuzu motors, no other info. But I have now got a Isuzu work shop manual for that motor. It`s a 100 horses or 74 kilowatts . Still can`t find out what torque it produces. But it seems to be allot from the way it performs. Hmm now to start hunting down a later rangie box.

I thought there were a few differences between the V8 and isuzu LT95's that made it hard to do a straight swap. Unless you are thinking of just switching the high range gearset from the V8 box to the isuzu box.

Direct injection diesels produce max 75Nm for each litre of displacement with no boost. This would put your 3.6 at around 270Nm tops.

    At 3000rpm 74kw only needs 235Nm.

I thought the handbrake was different too. RR has the smaller handbrake drum with mechanical linkage. My county has a cable. Or were the earlier counties different? I want to change from lt85 to lt95 at some stage, so I'm trying to find all these things out

Does the disco handbrake bolt up to the 110 style speedo housing or the rangie style?
They have different bolt patterns where the backing plate mounts to.

110 and RR have different rear output housings, 110 take a larger handbrake drum with different size mounting for the backing plate, however, they are interchangeable, the output housings, not just the handbrakes

I removed the stuffed LT85 and put a rangy LT95 in my county, I just removed the linkage and Rangy handbrake lever and hooked up the handbrake cable to the actuating lever. My small handbrake holds the county on all hills Ive come across in the Vic high country so far. The longer handbrake lever in the county gives far greater leverage than the original Rangy.
