    High range gears

Try to stay away from the 0.996 high range if you want reliability, unless you use the tapered roller gears. The 0.996 gears have a larger angle pitch on the teeth which with a very torquey motor wants to force the gears apart laterally putting excess pressure on the thrust washers. This creates alot of heat, melting the cages on the intermediate shaft bearings. The molten plastic blocks the oil holes in the intermediate shaft impeding oil flow.
Stick with the 1.113 gears, they may be noisier and you will be doing a few revs more but you will not have the problems of the 0.996 gears, as the tooth pitch is straighter.
My county is getting around 27MPG on a run with 33's and runs out to about 130kmh.
The ultimate gearbox would have to be a 600 series 8 speed roadranger with overdrive and the double low gears! Gotta find a t/fer case to suit!
