Well that was the post I was looking for Looks like I`m shopping for a MSA 5G gear box. As my 4bb1 is the little truck motor the bell housings should bolt up. Seems to be enough room between the chassis rails so far. Mine has the kick ass 24 volt starter, which fits fine. The motor runs 24 volt and 12 volt alternators. Still it all gets down to how much is to much to spend on a crusty old Landy. Will sus things out though as it would solve all my clutch problems. As for the selectors, you don`t buy a hybrid unless you like a challenge, also being a toolmaker helps a bit.

Dougal are you running a 6speed or 5speed? I would be more interested in a 6speed if going to the trouble of different gbox although what is the cost of a 5speed and what is the cost of a 6speed in nsw anyone know? Also what are the weights (kgs) for the following:
    Lt77
    Lt85
    Lt95
    R380
    MSA-5G (and other deriviants)
    And the 6speed isuzu box

    Mine is 5 speed.
The 6 speed Bush65 has appears to be the same basic case with an extra extension housing on the back.

I paid around $500. I found someone who was parting out a truck with a broken 4BE1 engine. Gearbox had done around 240,000km, was still smooth and tight.

Yep, I think all RHD light trucks use this pattern.

    R 2 4
    1 3 5

To my knowledge, no-one has managed to break an MSA box. So we don't know exactly how strong they are, but we know they're pretty tough.

Well that's enough to seal the deal for me then looks like I will run my lt85 into the ground and then get an MSA which shouldn't be to far away considering the lt85 has done 400k
