1.8:1 is low range. High range is 1:1.

So your current 1st low of 43:1 will become 32:1.

    Bugger that.

Especially considering what it could be with the Isuzu box and LT230.

Depends what bits you need, i bought mine with a new 300mm clutch, and sheldon supplied the gearbox.
$3465 i think got me, the adapter, spud shaft, gear shifter, master and slave cylinder, gearbox, clutch, clutch bits, spigot bearing, and a few extra bits thrown in.

    thanks vern!
there wouldnt be any price lists for individual parts by any chance?
i would be interested in the bare kit itself and organise clutch seperately myself.
although i am having trouble finding a msa-5g gearbox (i would prefer a mxa) but the kit wouldnt fit them would it? and by the looks of it the kit is a piece of artwork so wouldnt want to move away from the kit that has been designed.

also is first low lower than first low with a lt85?

    How's yours coming along Vern?

Chief there is a price list, just too long and confusing to list it all with all the options. Best to call me

It's been awhile since I looked at a mxa, but from memory there was something different to it that the msa kit wouldn't fit - next time I get a chance I will confirm that this is actaully right.

First is much lower than an LT85.

    LT85 3.65
    MSA-5G 5.788

58% Lower in fact. Nice and slooooowwwww.

Right now I have 3 more Machined Weldment type housings before they cross over to a machined casting type. It's going to take some time to get the castings into production, so not sure when these will be ready.

I could probably find you a gearbox too (I have one here but that's mine ).... I think Vern's was costed at around $750, but depends on supply (I have dried up the local wrecker of all his ) Generally used private sale $500 to from a wrecker up to $1500

    thanks grubb
ill send you a PM so that you can then send me your number if thats how you would like to do it?

sounds like the old machined version would be just as strong so i would still be interested in it. the kit includes everything pretty much doesnt it?
well i have tryed some wreckers for the gearboxes but they dont pop up anywhere so we might have to organise this also as i mentioned for the clutch i was going to organise with a local buisness to build me up a HD clutch to my requirements.

have you got a photo of all the parts layed out i remember seeing them in this thread somewhere but it might be easier if you was to post them up if its not to much trouble of course..

Right now the quickest way to take a look at all the parts layed out is to download the installation manual at Landrover: Isuzu 4BD1 Transmission - Home My computer and the first line of back up storage has crashed So I am very busy trying to get everything going again...

The machined and cast housings will be functionally the same - strength will not be an issue. The main benefit, once the mould is complete, will be that the manufacture process will be less time demanding (on me) - so I can do more things like fix crashed computers

The standard kit includes everything to directly swap out a LT85 and bolt in a MSA. Any variants of this (ie. 4spd LT95 , 4BD1 into a later model or into a Disco) requires additional stuff.

Grubb ive tryed to open the link you posted but its a no go probably a victim of your computer failure .

I then tryed a PM in your direction and your inbox is full so ive sent an email insted

I have the MSA on its way with clutch and pressure plate as well as clutch slave and master cyl's from a truck i missed out on the flywheel and housing as it was sold with the engin .

So im in the market for one of your conversion set ups and shifter to fit into my LT95 4bd1 county .

I have the LT230 from my old 95 V8 D1 as well as the mounts are there any other bits i will need from the truck ? and what extra bits will i need as mine is LT95 not LT85 ..

    Lokka,
Ive used the land rover clutch master cylinder, and pedal feel is good, so try that first maybe? Also, unless i missed something, i thought the kit is for lt230 'bolt on' t.case, not the lt95 which has the intergral t.case.

I have a lt85 flywheel housing with starter and and flywheel(needs new ring gear) left over from my conversion, all in good nik. then you need the adaptor ring that grubb makes. Pm me if your interested.
