Oh it a clean break alright. Not going to say to much until i here from sheldon, but extremely surprised how easily it snapped on the terrain i was driving.
If you can zoom in on that pic, look at the marks on the spline
Thoughts on welding en26? (If thats what it is)
IME most shafts that fail start to shear at some previous point in time, then will finally fail later under what seems like a light load - or even reverse.
EN26 welds fine with some preheat. A machinist will need to fit a centre "pin" to align the two broken pieces and then machine the ends down to give a "V" which can be filled with weld. Maybe even sleeve it and plug weld the sleeve if there is room.
True, but a shaft that has only done 3500km should not snap under light load
Good News😊😊😊😊😊.
mockey (sorry a bit deaf😊is overnight express posting one tomorrow from perth, so fingers crossed its here tuesday morning😊😊😊😊.
He is going far out (300k each way) of his way to do this, i appreciate it so much.
Hopefully i get some warranty on this, if not i will be researching to best way to make/have made a new stronger shaft.
Exactly what i thought. Its a very clean break.
