Basically i am stuck on the east coast of tassie with a broken adapter shaft, i need to get home.
Waiting on a reply from sheldon, hopefully he comes good.
So i need a loner asap to get my now upset family home, shaft will be returned and well componsated for it.

PLEASE i am very desperate and always hate to ask, but this time i'm stuck.
Very sorry to hear Damien. To get you home, a good engineering shop should be able to repair it for you. Assuming you have a clean break.

If you can zoom in on that pic, look at the marks on the spline

IME most shafts that fail start to shear at some previous point in time, then will finally fail later under what seems like a light load - or even reverse.

EN26 welds fine with some preheat. A machinist will need to fit a centre "pin" to align the two broken pieces and then machine the ends down to give a "V" which can be filled with weld. Maybe even sleeve it and plug weld the sleeve if there is room.

True, but a shaft that has only done 3500km should not snap under light load

Good to hear. There should be 0 chance of that shaft snapping if made from proper material and heat treated properly.
