My posts on this subject have nothing to do with me having been stuck at home after hip replacement surgery and having far too much time on my hands.

Went for my first drive in my 90 earlier (just attached the number plates this morning!), and passed another Defender - we gave each other a nod and a wave

Nah , it's still alive and well.

Waved at a 130 heading the other way , across 3 lanes of traffic and a huge median strip this arvo.
We were in the very hot/warm County heading south on the Princes just after Traralgon.

The wife said " Who was that "

    " Another Defender/County owner " I said

    "Do you know them "

    " I don't have to " I qualified

This must be the official Nissan view, I have herd this several times. Must be tuff believing you have the best 4x4 and non of your mates have any soul.

It's not just the wave, how often have you been approached by a total stranger who asks "is that your landy" as you stand next to it. You reply yeh, and within seconds you have an old mate to talk to for hours.

I too always wave, has taken my wife a while to understand, but when she was driving and a fellow fender driver waved at here one day she changed here ways , even my little bloke spots from his booster seat just incase i'm busy doing something else like snoozing at the wheel
which i can assure you doesnt happen often

    cheers

Aaaah......takes me back when I/we (girlfriend/wife) owned a trusty ol' series III 'shorty' and the waves, I think the cook got more of a buzz out of the wave than I did.

Now, do I tell my daughter, she's buying a 90, about the wave or let her find out and wonder what's with the wave?

I dont get anywhere near the number of waves in my 90 as I did in my old 110 and it makes me sad!

I guess it is because the 90 (1985 so neither series nor defender) doesnt look as obviously a landrover, metalic blue, tubular winch bumper etc and I have the roof off 95% of the time, whereas the tdi 110 was a lot more standard and white with the defender stripe up the side.

Here is a picture so people know what to look out for (Brisbane). I want to come back from the lonely world of unreturned waves!
