I have to disagree mate! My MY 2016 Heritage 90 in the UK had an ECU (the subject of quite a few emails to JLR!!), that had removed the 'rev hang' totally. It made the drive SO much nicer in every way!
I get on fine with my Defender, despite the rev hang. I have 'adapted' as you say, get no drive-line shunt at all. However, having seen various JLR salesmen demonstrate the vehicle, I can say that rev hang will not avoid the shunt if you happen to be a 'ham fisted' driver!!...
As for keeping the turbo spooled up, I doubt that the very small above idle level of induction would be sufficient to keep a turbo spooled up... and the Puma has such a small diameter turbo unit anyway that is heavily biased toward low RPM with consequent minimal 'lag'.
The Defender is the ONLY vehicle that I have ever driven, turbo's included, that has this rev hang 'feature'...
It's all good mate... I would personally however just like it gone!![]()
