Easy enough...
Davis gets them made up in mild steel or stainless so I don't think putting a threaded rod on would be an issue.Bruce reckons the heat is not an problem though without the cat.I haven't seen the quality but I can't imagine what the problem would be.

Retaining bracket is nice to have in fairness as mine is still hanging loose and not broken or rattling "yet" I do plan to weld a bracket with a bold arrangement at some stage like suggested.
Now quality:
Mine had a leak that I had to spot weld, I personally feel that the decat pipe is a downgrade compared to OE quality both from a material and workmanship standpoint. That said it does the job ...I think
What would happen if I took off the rear muffler, centre muffler and pipe to the rear and put a decat on?
I say leave the rear muffler on. Take off the centre muffler and install a decat. What you'll get is:
-better economy
-lower egts
-better/quicker turbo spool
-better mid range torque
Basically your letting the motor breathe better. I dont care what anyone says in regards to the exhaust, it is restrictive!
As for turbo over spool, my gauge hits 22 psi and stays there. IT DOES NOT OVERSPOOL! Sorry i put that in caps because people on Aulro throw that around all the time in regards to the puma engine and exhaust, its bs

Nando, does yours sound different from stock with centre muffler gone? What sort of milage gain you observing? Mine is bad, but then again I don't have an economical driving style
I was able to get an average 600km with those exhaust mods on 235/85/16 wrangler mtr tyres (standard tyres). I used to average 560-570kms before the mods.
I now get 530kms average per tank. Im on 33s and the vehicle sits at around 2.4gvm at the moment. Its also remapped and running a alive cooler.
Sound is a little better but nothing special. The spool time was the first noticeable thing for me along with better mid range power and torque. I wouldnt say its much of a power gain but rather better power delivery.
If you want a modern common rail diesel engine to last you need to get them to run cleaner and cooler.
Cleaner; block and delete egr. The egr cools engine temps but achieves this by running a leaner air fuel ratio. As it does this it clogs up the intake over time. A bit like sugar in the blood stream slowly causing plaque build up in arteries. Having a cleaner more effiecient burn will help engine life, but your engine temps will be a little higher without egr.
Cooler by running a bigger more effiecient cooler. Reduces intake temps producing a bigger bang for your diesel dollar and more power.
This leads to the exhaust, all those intake improvements require better exhaust flow. The engine is an air pump, air goes in and needs to come out efficiently. A restrictive exhaust will keep the engine running hot, egts will start to climb under heavy load (eg big long hill on a freeway) and before you know it its either limp mode or engine goes pop!
By pop i mean that it wont last as long as a cool, clean running engine

Understood! Mine has all that, centre muffler is the only delta apart from the brand of tune and hardware. Now interesting to here you are getting about the same milage (mine is about 525 around town) from the OE tank and 285's. I am very conscious re the whole temp business and resultant fatigue/impact to engine life. To be honest mine seems to run on the cooler side. only concern is the heat soak due to the Ex box I have installed which acts like a heat sink in the cabin. I am planning to line the GB/TC area when the TC is taken out for ATB install soon. What sort of pressure do you run normally?
On a side note my mate's 110 2.4 is running into some heating issues and limp mode, he has some massive lights up front with standard IC and Alive tune with same size rubber as mine (and yours perhaps)
Gave it a bath
