Thread: New disco, too many options!!

If it was me, I would keep to the car that I know best and transfer any desirable goodies.

I have an ARB roo bar on mine and they are rather heavy, which meant I eventually bought some King springs with a 1" lift on the front to compensate.

The poly bar you have has a good reputation with my local panel beater, who says he has never had to replace one. Whether they are any better than a steel one I can't say.

It sounds to me that your blue one is in far worse condition than your green one - so why change?

I would strip the blue one out and take what you need.
Than sell off the goodies that you don't need.
Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

Alternatively, souurce a 2nd hand head and fix the blue one, still take what you feel you need and sell it as a going vehicle.
Should still fetch you say $5-9k if running well.

Thats my thoughts.
If it just sits in your yard for ages, it will deteriorate quickly and gather dust and mice.

yeah the poly bar is great, we've hit countless roo's with it and even rear ended a carolla lol, only problem is that you can fit a winch to the bloody thing, so i think i will definitely move the other bar over with just a quick respray... another option is selling the ARB bar as is and buying a TJM one... just because i much prefer the look of them and then i wouldnt have to respray the bar...

Yeah i think i have pretty much made up my mind too already about moving everything to mine, thought id put this up anyway to show anyone... and if theres any parts on it anyone would like to purchase and i wont need, (i.e rear diff, tail shaft, water pump...) because all of that is new on mine, feel free to ask!

thats a good idea too actually... might look into that. I'll definitely keep it in good condition though... see that shed beside them in the pictures... alllll for cars

EDIT: Oops sorry I just looked at the pictures again and realised that i didnt put in a picture from the other angle showing the shed haha, you'll just have to believe me that there is a big shed there :P

Sorry dullbird i have decided to keep my good old original, love it too much haha.

I started pulling the new one apart today, i took the bullbar and winch etc. off and starting prepping the bullbar to be painted, im going to give it a coat of black with some good quality aerosol paint.

The winch is in fairly bad external condition though... it runs perfectly but its just getting corosion and crap on it, does anyone have any ideas about what i should give it a coat of - or if i should just leave it? sorry i dont have any pictures at the moment...

I also took off the snorkel... that was pretty epic had to take off the quarter and to do that i had to take off the door, but finally got it off

Havn't even thought about the dual batteries just yet... kind of just going to work through it all at a medium pace and try and get everything recon'd to a reasonable stat

Just quickly also, the rollers for the winch, are pretty crappy at the moment, should i paint it or try and buy a new one?? would it be expensive to buy a newey?

no mate I'm sure the winch is stuffed........l can fix it, but you will have to send it to my place first ......
