as for Jackerz... you'll be surprised how much noise the parking barke shoes can make if they're loose. Test again and take the parking break lever 1 or 2 clicks up. Any difference?

just to be sure im taking the exhaust of again to test it for sure.

so i just whipped the center and last exhaust pipe sections off and as i had thought from last time i tried it doesnt make the noise...

There is a isolator plate above the center section. If you push it up you might find it is loose. With a thick washer(s) between bottom plate and this isolator plate you can secure it again. Since this plate is right above the center section it may be the cause of the metallic rattle.
do you mean the heat shield above the center muffler ? i checked it and not metal and solidly in place.

meant the heat shield yes. Not sure what effect the exhaust has in your case. Can someone rev the engine to the required RPM's while you hold the rear propshaft close to the parking brake drum? Does it vibrate alot with or without the exhaust in place? Thanks on forehand!

well its not the heat shield its not that loose and its not solid enough to make such a noise. so im thinking its mosty likely further up in the engine / exhaust. so im most likely going to book into the local LR specialists...

The internals of a muffler could be kaput...

well i took all the exhaust (3 pipes that connect to turbo) of again 3rd or 4th time cant remember and now it makes the noise with it off. so i and the exhaust guy have realise it must be something else higher up.

sounds like marbles in blender ? rattle at 2200rpm

anyway its booked in for check by rover specialist, so just praying it isnt too serious...
