My long term average consumption on the D2 with roof racks and ladders and conduit holders etc has been around 13 L/100...best I ever got on a run was 11.7 really gently.

first fill with the chipped ecu was 12.6 which included some fun testing the newfound power, and second fill was 10.9!!!
thats over 500km or so and includes quite a few overtakes and bursts of newfound acceleration...
    im stoked...

Around 9-10 litres of a full syn ATF went into the 4HP22E today, 5 litres went in six months ago so I really should start from scratch re a full fluid change, although it's only done around 10,000km since.

I was going to do a filter change but it's still a little contaminated coming out.
It's not burnt at all, which is nice, but what looks more like clutch material so a filter change will happen during the week and probably another 10 litres through it too.

Does it feel any different considering how old the original fluid was and the new fluid has one of the latest additive packs with modern friction modifers?
I think so, I believe it feels a little smoother in the changes, but only a real drive through the hills will tell if it's better on kickdown under load.

So this weekend will see the fitment of a Serck intercooler a new radiator and hoses and the Provent and now a Alternator the list seem`s to keep growing
    Hopefully it wont grow anymore
    Well achieved said chores
What a hideous design for the alternator and radiator / intercooler remove and refit job glad im not revisiting that one for a while .
Also relocated Tranny cooler and fitted a provent
That was a weekend worth of cursing but all worth it in the end

It'll be interesting to see how your coolant temps go over summer Chris.
IIRC the Serck I/C has more FPI than, say, an Allisport so it will be interesting to see if it impacts coolant temps.
I don't think PhillipA has noticed any changes?

BTW, had a really good chat to Todd the other day. We discussed pad compounds, mu, working temp ranges, bite and release and he tipped me off to his favourite compound manufacturer atm.
Unfortunately I had to get back to work.....

I got an annoying oil leak fixed the other day and I am now finally at a stage where I am happy with the truck mechanically and I have NO oil, coolant or any other leaks to worry about.

No still no adverse effects , but then it has been cool since I fitted it. It sits on about 82-85C ( head temperature) on highway even up big hills , and that with the original radiator. Before the new intercooler it ran at 85 even on a 41C day so hot weather will be interesting although in hot weather it got to 90+ up big hills like the slow climb out of Gosford.

I have also put Redline Water Wetter in to have belt and braces.

    Regards Philip A

    Looking for buying advice

    Hi All,

I know this is the wrong place to ask but I cant post new threads.

I'm looking at buying a '02 TD5 disco 2 which has come up pretty cheap. I'm told there are some minor problems (leaks, door latch, ect.) which I am not worried about, but there is apparently a transmission issue, where the dash 'M' light is on and the 'D' is flashing on the transmission. The current owner says it is driving fine - Can anyone help diagnose?

I have been reading around the internet and I am thinking that it might be something that isn't too serious but some confirmation/disagreement would be great.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, and if you have experienced this first hand please share.

    Thanks,
    Trip.

Ok for FYI about 6 / 8 degrees warmer than with the standard i/c on average about 4 degree`s cruising at 100 .
I even saw 96 degrees for a split second this arvo at 100 k 33 degree`s ambient temp ac flat out slight load up hill .
Now mine is still running standard tune but with all the other mods as expected
Now all readings are with the nancom on instrument mode
