I drove up to Tarmala Station today and the D2a ran flawlessly i did however have a mudguard come adrift on the boat trailer.
The first time i dont bring my little welder is the time it would come in bloody handy.
Ah well there is always the hundred mile tape I suppose.

Spring compressor`s I have never found the need to use them on any of my LR`S
    Disconnect shockers sway bars ect
But i did use some ratchet straps on another car once to compress some springs try them if in a pinch
    Ps
Only load rated ones of course

I've done both F&R on RRC without spring compressors and don't remember needing any assistance to fit the springs.
I recently had the springs and shocks out my my D1 to fit new shock bushes and and shock towers, and I do remember that the front axle needed a little bit of help with the use of the (Landrover) bottle jack between chassis and axle to get the last few mm's of clearance.
Then again I'm more of the lazy type that hates undoing everything (like Chris said above) .. and didn't remove the sway bar. But the jack between chassis and axle did the trick.

For the fronts, disconnecting the shocks is a given, as you won't get the springs out without doing so anyhow!
In my case, I had a broken bolt that retains one of the shock towers, so I replaced both the shock towers as well as the shock tower retaining ring that was broken. Got a pair of tube type towers. So shocks had to come out, and I thought while I was at it, I may as well replace the shock bushes whilst it's was all apart.

Apparently so! It’s the Land Rover reliability.
On the down side, all of my belt/bearing squeals/rattles are still there....What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

    Back at it

After a couple of weeks of not being able to work on Gary due to getting married on Thursday, had a very productive day today.

    Finished the Runva winch install:
    - Connected earth cable without having to take the bullbar back off - win!
    - Removed shiny new wedding ring before doing electrical stuff. Gary is now the other woman.
    - Relocated dual battery isolator and installed winch isolator switch in jack space inside battery box.
    - Installed 1000 CCA of shiny new Caterpillar battery POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
    - Relocated solenoid closer to the front of the bar so I could get the front grille to go back in properly
    - Connected it all up.
    - Put some Anderson plug connectors on cranking and second batteries for solar panels / air compressor / inverter etc.
    - Battery box lid still closes - WIN!
    - Ran winch out and back in a little. Glad it works. Now to find a quiet street with a sturdy tree.

    - Sanded back some parts of the roof rack to paint.
    - Mounted hilift jack holder and jack on roof rack.
    - Replaced spotlight relay but didnt fix the problem.
    - Emptied water out of rear left light assembly.

If I can get all the things done by Sunday, then my new wife and I are off on our year long honeymoon road trip! Otherwise, whenever all the vehicle things are finished (well, finished enough to depart, you know how it is with Land Rovers......).

What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

Been chipping away at this for a few weeks. Will plumb the boost hose and tap the temp sensor in tonight (weather & children permitting)

Angle of the gauges isn’t perfect, but working with a head torch, what can I expect. Still perfectly readable, just the OCD in me.
