Thanks mate. The moulding is part of the pod. I left it in there to give some more structural integrity. It gave me something to drill into when mounting it other than the body filler.
It was the easy part - plenty of cling wrap to protect the pillar and then 4 layers of fibreglass. The rest I just made up as I went.

Today (after mowing the weeds) my D2 got a brand new boost solenoid, a set of pretty blue silicone turbo hoses and a squeaky clean intercooler in return for some knuckle skin. There was only one slight issue on the test drive. It sounded like the worlds biggest fart immediately followed by a smokescreen to the rear and no power. Note to self. Do the hose clamps up properly..... Especially the one next to the battery box - it's a lot of work to get at it... The second test drive went a LOT better. I can now get 4,000RPM whereas before I was pushing it to get 3,500RPM.

The old hose from intercooler to inlet manifold was a sorry mess inside with considerable delamination. The intercooler had enough oil in it to rival the Exxon Valdez.

All that's left to do is to reset the clock, enter the security code in the radio and store our favourite radio stations.
    Cheers,

Think I found why only one of my driving lights was working! In my rush to swap the loom over to the new car one weekend I just cabletied everything in place, and the relay ended up upside down and full of water.
    I also found this....

If you locate your relays up near your fuse box you shouldn't have any issues with water ingress
