    Back from 6 days away towing the caravan. No problems with the D2.

    The main difference between running a stock 4L and gearbox, and running an "improved" 4.6 and stock gearbox is-
    If you give it a bootfull the engine now holds its higher revs and the gearbox has to catch up to lockup..
    whereas with the 4L the engine would slow down to lockup.
    its still happy to pull away from less than 60kph with the caravan on and box locked in 4th.

    Think I worked out what caused the P1884 fault code plus the surging that I had the other day...

    When the fuel gauge shows 1/4 it actually means - EMPTY!

    Luckily it stopped in a friends driveway with an 8x5 tandem trailer on a quiet street!

    A cheap buy shameful fix!

    Was followed down the gateway motorway by a LR transformer today. One minute It was a nice looking white D1, literally 30 seconds later it was a white D4. I’m sure there wasn’t an exit in between!

    Not today but Friday. Emergency rego check, I got hate mail from the Roads authority, fortunately I hadn't been driving it.

    Thankfully it just needed a new bullbar indicator globe, the spiderwebs removed and the mouse relocated.

    Jeeze these are good vehicles. I still love the thing.

    Noticed the green trailer light flashing with the indicator... but no trailer connected.
    Would this be a result of jumping the bull bar indicators off the circuit behind the headlight loom eg. extra voltage drop?

    That’s the cause of what it is. Get either LEDs for the bar or a smaller wattage bulb and that will fix it.

    Yep, 5w globes instead of 21w globes will do the trick.

    My Defender does it too, I assume reading the ARB bar lights. I just ignore it.
