Axle resealed. I ended up buying a new o ring and gambled not using sealer and I got rid of the insect home. I haven’t been for a drive yet to see if it’s still leaking or not. Also fitted a silicon top hose, which, after I argued with the lower spring clip for a while, ended up being an easy fit. I cut a bit off the 2 hoses going to the block, but apart from that no issues. I cut a bit off the old hose to protect the a/c pipe from the engine breather pipe until I fit the catch can that’s in the pile of things to fit.

O rings don't need sealer, just some lube on installation and be careful not to nick/mark it or roll/twist on assembly.

I had a leak recently and it was a blocked breather.

I took the D2a for a run yesterday in mid to high 30C and the coolant temp didn't get over 92C while travelling at 110kph
As an unexpected Bonus the air con was working better than it has before as well.

I got sick of trying to find a power source whenever I was wiring in a new accessory, so I made up this:

One big power feed (8 awg) from the battery going to 2 relays. 1 is triggered from accessory the other from ignition then added a fuse box to each relay. Each fuse box is rated to 100amps

I still need to get around to labelling what each fuse is for.

Hey John,, is it worth moving your cable run off the metal pipe to say, the small silicone one at right angles,,
    just thinking heat..

Maybe. I hadn’t thought of that. I did wrap the cabling in silicon tape a while ago as the ac compressor was melting through the insulation and I was throwing fault codes.

There was No notable difference in engine temps from before the ARB bar and winch was fitted and after, I was concerned about this But the extra airflow coming through the holes in the ARB bar offset the loss of airflow by the winch fitment, The stock bumper blocked more air than the bullbar and winch does.
I imagine that removing the winch Will undoubtedly allow for more airflow but I like having a winch fitted so I am quite prepared to trade off some airflow to leave it there

The D2a was never designed for Australian conditions and all I am trying to accomplish by this grill Mod is to help with keeping the engine temps to a manageable level.
There is more I can do like eliminating the factory coolant bypass so that ALL the coolant goes through the radiator via an inline thermostat at the top of the engine instead of the way it is in the standard setup.
The factory setup is perfect for cold climates as it gets the engine up to operating temp fast and runs the heaters quickly But it isn't that helpful in our 40C+ climate.
My D2a is a work in progress and I enjoy trying different Mods to tailor make it for my needs/wants
I think D2 went through more international product testing than many other Land Rovers. It was an incredible thing. The cross flow radiator is bigger than a number of other rovers and the cooling flow is very good. D2a does lack engine oil coolers though which D2 had as stock for the V8 which may make a difference at the upper ends. My D2 towing a 2000kg 21 foot Seafarer on 40 degree days never got too hot even in stop start traffic. The inline thermostat though was a good addition and brought temps down to a level I am happier with.

    Cheers

Hi OzScott, I have often wondered about that.... understand the theory and would love to see your solution/parts used.
What thermostat, how, and where do you put it?
Would love to see your mod.
Is it relevant to a Td5?

The fast heater warm is great but at what cost on a hot day....

    Cheers DDM

Hey mate. I think the Td5 is a different set up. I will see if I can dig up the thread. Pedro started it. If you Google 'American know how aulro" it should show up.

    Cheers
