It would appear the BSL is back after an extended holiday.... (over 4 years by my sig)
I've had the odd orange ACE light come on recently but it always resets with the key, anyway driving along at 60kph and the car decides to "roll its shoulders". No clunks or bangs, just the rhythmic up and down-left then right motion at the rear, for about half a second I thought it was just truck tram tracks but a lucky change of road surface made that nonsensical. The whole thing was beautiful and smooth, but just a tad disconcerting!!!
Please dont ask for the error codes... as (BSL) luck would have it rain had caused corrosion on the ECM connector but the only output permanently affected was, you guessed it, the OBD2 pin...
and yes! I do have a spare ECM,, and last August even sent it away to England to get reflashed, but its return is overdue now by several months.... :wallbash:
Not the first time,, cop that BSL...
Car rocking - ACE problem?
BSL?
Long story short, No2 son's Audi needs a clutch, his SV8 Adventure wagon has charging issues, so get the question "do you need your car this afternoon or tomorrow morning?" .. No. that was it. Mmmm bit of FB snooping, it's off into the Sunset country camping for the night. Get a call late in the afternoon, "i'm almost out to Hattah the battery light came on." Seems earlier in the day he went thru a mud puddle and the alternator died, kept driving for the next hour until it stopped. Got charged up on the side of the track and thought he better head for home Another 45 mins driving bush tracks alone before he got phone coverage, lucky it had solar to keep it going. End result brushes and armature stuffed.
Looked at the price of alternators online and had a heart attack. Looking for a good S/H alternator D2 TD5, Vac pumps fine, just the armature is stuffed on mine.

d kidsSurely no 2 son should pay for a NEW alternator.Quote:

If he can afford two other cars IMHO he can afford an alternator.
Especially since he abused the D2.

I’m with Phillip on this...
Son has SV8 and Audi, which it sounds like he’s pretty hard on both...
He borrowed your ride, he broke your ride... guess who needs to man up / step up and own it.
Don’t fall into the trap of letting your kids mooch off you. They need to be responsible for the damage caused.
You'll be waiting a long time for payment on that one if he already has 2 broken cars, just fix it.
But at least he could wash it!
