Premature seal failure is generally an installation issue. I don't think six years is bad for a seal.

Corteco are pretty good seals though.
I didn't have a hub seal leak on the Deefer in close to 15 years, nor pinion seals or input and output shaft seals on the t/case and g/box. (Which were all changed between 270 and 330,000km as a matter of course when things were apart, not because they were leaking)
I can't say the same for Tdi rear crank seals[emoji849]
The TD5 rocker cover gasket is leaking again, and it was only replaced 10-15,000km ago.
I think it might've been a Bearmach last time, I'd have to look at the invoice.
I have a genuine seal plus bolt seals here from Mario to go in tomorrow, weather pending.
I replaced my sump gasket a couple of months ago with genuine from Mario and a genuine rocker cover gasket several months ago..Quote:

The drip is now down to a five cent piece size which is good IMHO.
I think the drip is coming from the join between the sump and gearbox where there is a void and it is difficult to fit the sealant as directed.( or maybe it is the "half moon" again.)
Who knows? At least it doesn't seem to be the FPR!

Mine did too when i picked it up.
It has new ones one there now at both ends, I'm not sure about how leak tight the rear one is atm [emoji848]
I'm hoping it's just the rocker cover gasket after washing everything down when replacing the crank angle sensor a month or so back. (Which didn't stop the intermittent cutting out of the engine. ECU capacitor changes coming up!)
Installed a new Kenwood stereo in place of the original Eurovox CD/radio head unit. What a difference [emoji106]
Of course it wasn’t plain sailing; the Kenwood plug on the Aerpro adaptor harness had the wrong latching mechanism. Anyway, I cut the plug off and soldered in the plug that came in the box.
Later in the day, after a return trip to Melbourne, the D2 struck back. The horn bipped once when locking up. Found that the driver’s door lock was not pulling in.
Oh well, just another day in the life of a long suffering D2 owner.
Mariooooo!!!!
