I was looking to buy just the cam and injector shaft/rockers to fix the pitted ones (approx 500 from TRS) but spotted disassembled head on gumtree for 500 complete with injectors too (hopefuly re-fitted properly with new o-rings and washers coz it came with injectors already fitted)

It needed the head and carrier mating surfaces cleaned as it had hard black sealant still stuck on it and the oil galleries were still half filled with black stuff (and that's after it had been dipped too) but cam lobes and rocker rollers were all good.

I used lots of spray-on foaming gasket remover and with a bit of effort and a plastic scraper cleaned it up followed by degreaser and a good blow dry.

I have an elring mls gasket so will put on with no hylomar or copper spray (I bought both, hylomar spray new to me, copper spray used extensively over the years, but mls gasket new to me, so will follow manufacturers advice and use with no extra sealers)

When I got the head off it still had the plastic locating dowels and they were offset from head movement exactly like the pictures I have seen online.

2 of my injector springs had shattered base inserts and all of the springs and plungers were easily pulled off. The replacement head I can't disassemble the injector plunger and spring by tugging.

Old hand at engines but completely new to the Td5 so it is a learning curve to pick up on its characteristics.

And you still haven't answered my query re your NNN for sale

I have 2 MSB ecu both with a TRS socketed chip and I think same stage 1 tune , tossing up between buying a programmer and some blank chips or selling them and getting NNN, but mine is EU2 auto hence my questions in the marketplace.

Mine has a leaking transmission cooler. I'm tossing up whether to get some screw on fittings done on the hoses as part of the repair.
    Currently looking for a cooler.
Concern is that once I disturb the hoses they'll likely fail as they are the originals.

My disco engine is now assembled

Wouldn't burst into life yesterday just turned over (and over and over and over)

Recharged battery overnight and this arvo it made a few half hearted attempts while copious quantities of white smoke belched out the bumhole

Gave it a rest for a few minutes then attempted with foot flat to floor and fuel cap off, started and idled (and very nicely at that) for 20 seconds then faltered and stopped and back to turning over with not the slightest attempt to fire.

    I'm really unhappy

So that's what my Discovery did today

Noticed a squeal that sounds metal like. On first take off after car has been parked, reversing out under idle nothing its just that very first time you accelerate away, only does it a few times then you wont hear it until next shutdown, even a short shutdown while going into the shops will bring it back.

Was making me think my turbo has shagged its self.As it comes on with the induction noise but then stops, it's loud all most like a fan belt.

The front drive shaft looks ok, a replacement is coming. Don't think it's that. I did grease where I could the other weekend.

Also noticed a manifold stud / bolt snapped sitting on top of the a/c motor (very fist stud), can the manifold warping make that kind of sound?

New kings spotties installed. Just waiting for dark to test them out. Used an Xmas gift voucher so was about $30 out of pocket. Can not complain!

Yes , off with the shiny new VGT, modify, face and ceramic coat the manifold, replace exhaust studs , gasket and check the screw in core plug while the manifold is off .

assuming you purged ( acc pedal 5 times to the floor with ign on )the system , make sure you have the fuel lines to FPR correct , ( top line in to FPR is supply from tank ).
On the bright side , if this has caused you to be unhappy , I'll take it to mean your life in general must be ok!.

In the continuing saga of the PO having topped up the brake fluid with some kind of oil, clutch cylinders eventually died the other night leading to a trip home in third gear when the clutch became inoperative. Of course, the plastic clip popped out with the push rod thanks to the swollen squash ball sized boot on the slave. Lucky for me, I found some instructions on replacing the clip on this site that involves using using a piece of garden hose and copper pipe, both of which I had at hand. Seemed impossible from the top, but was not to bad from underneath and only took a couple of attempts. Hearing and feeling that little plastic clip snap in place was music to my ears! Had to wrestle the slave against the bell housing to get the first bolt started, but realized after the event that it was probably because I hadn't removed the plastic plug from the inlet

Anyway, after reading horror stories about bleeding the clutch, I was dreading the moment. But again, thanks to some tips gleaned from this site - and help from the missus - had it done in less than 10 minutes so all good.

Now awaiting the next failure to proceed issue!
