Lots of surgery today. Head replaced with an AMC, valve guides replaced with steel ones. Timing chain tensioner guides replaced and a cracked piston bring replaced.
Hopefully also the engine mounts and AC compressor also.
Cheers

Finished off the rear shelf today, little distracted by the bigger things but can say pretty pleased with the result, retain all the functionality of the 'door' and a quick to put up shelf. Made one mistake in that I Drilled a hole in the rear door pocket to enable me to drill the bottom screw hole, should have drilled the top hole and turned it around and drilled the lower hole from the back, ohhh well someone has to make a mistake for us to learn. May have to level the screws at the back if they hit any door bracing or maybe just drill a relief hole.

Shelf without the sub fitted
(Shelf will be screwed to the strut for storage and quick quick fit )

Fits just under the 'armrest' - on other thing is that A LONGER shelf may be used (1.2M at moment) as the shelf is pretty well attached and overhang wont be a problem, only storage.
The area above this will have a 'box' for attached for kitchen implements, the one I had will not work due to the hinge fouling when opening.

Oh mate I'm not doing the job. Bruce Davis is working on it at the moment. It sounded like it was at least 2 solid days for them for the head swap part, I'm sure he said ages ago it was about 16 hours but I could be wrong there. As you know its also rebuilding the new head also. You've got some cool stuff going in!
Cheers

Well I didn't expect this.....

One of the autobox oil cooler lines decided to split. The ATF went down the road and the underside of the car has been rust proofed. The good part is that the ATF that ran down the gutter was looking like new.
We have just completed a 14,500km trip from Moe to the Yorke Peninsula, Kakadu, The Kimberly, Marble Bar, the WA goldfields, Nullabor, etc. We got to within 120km of home and it lost all drive. Took about 100 metres to get pulled over and stopped with engine off so gearbox should be OK - I hope. RACV Total Care to the rescue again...:-)
In the whole 14,500 km's we had nothing go wrong apart from a left rear indicator bulb (managed to get let off in SA because I replaced it while the policeman waited) and the front drive shaft (new one from Whyatt's in Geraldton).
For the 14,500km's towing a two tonne camper we averaged 13.5 litres / 100 km. We used about half a litre of oil and no coolant. I'm pretty happy with that.
Cheers,
Mark F...

Look how proudly it sits up there on the truck, waiting for it's reward for nearly making it... Gotta love a D2!
Had the same with the split ATF Line a while ago. Replaced the hose, refilled the ATF (needed 7.5liters!) and everything was fine again!
