SupporterAre you re using the head bolts? And if so how many times so far?Head is off, surprised to find no signs of valve/piston intercourseculprit for the knocking noise appears to have been two bolts on the rockershaft coming loose.
Trying to get some ideas from peoples real world experience. Ta

Replaced the crank angle sensor.
Had intermittent no starts and one check engine light/engine stop in the last week without a logged fault.
The old one's O ring had gone ta ta, and the plug end was full of oil.
We'll see how it goes.

I've even been nice to it lately. At least the stud isn't broken so I should be able to get it out when I take the manifold off. Maybe. Hopefully.

SubscriberSad to say I didn't put it there. I only found it when I took the heat shield off so I could get a good squint at the exhaust leak(s). As you say ingenious....... an ingenious solution towards discouraging a common Td5 hose rupture issue is on display in pic 2
I saw the soot at turbo / manifold joint and the manifold bolts all looked OK but stupidly I didn't check them. When I got back from getting a new gasket the first thing I saw when I started to get the turbo flange unbolted was the missing manifold nut. There was only a short screech a week or so ago which is probably when the turbo/manifold gasket let go. Fingers crossed that the manifold isn't warped but I bet it is....
