Replaced my viscous fan bearing today as the old one was making a horrendous noise.
The bearing was so stuffed that it is impossible to turn by hand, so it was only a matter of a few Ks before it would seize solid. However the belt was OK so it must have still turned with difficulty.

I used the Discovery 2 UK site how to , but can add a couple of tips.

1 you need a pair of angled internal circlip pliers to be able to fit
between the radiator and bearing holder.

2 be careful about what tool you use to screw the bearing out. I used a socket and Hex key but suddenly found no room between it and the radiator when the bearing was half out. I was able to pull the radiator forward and just get the tool out and replaced it with a ratchet spanner on the hex key. This is important because if you cannot get the tool out the only remedy I could see is to remove the radiator.

After freezing the bearing and then heating the housing , the bearing just fell into place , which was a relief as I don't know what plan B was if it needed drifting in.
    Regards Philip A

I finished the interior side of the installation of my TM1 Engine Watchdog - I mounted the gauge unit to the bottom of the ash tray drawer. Easy to sight when you want to and the viewing angle is perfect - just as LR woulda done it

PS: the gauge temperature sensor is mounted under a bolt only millimetres from where the engine temperature sensor is.

Aahh ooh no I don't want to open that can of worms unless I really have to...:-) I have a complete service and repair record for the car and in all of it's 368k km's it's not had the head off. Who knows what may be hiding in there lying dormant waiting for the day when daylight hits it...:-)

Unbolt the hard coolant line on the back of the block, makes it so much easier
Ta for that - I haven't had a good look yet - gotta get my hands on a replacement hose yet. It's my daily drive so probably next week end.

    Very little

Fitted a new SLS airbag the other day, fixed the cig lighter this morning, 'T' electrical connection had been put on upside down.
Fitting a UHF, repairing heater control lighting and sorting out the radio this arvo.

That lot should get me out of some house work

Borrowed a steam cleaning machine and gave all the upholstery and carpets a good run over.
Hadn't had a chance to do this in the six months I've had the car.
Seats were a bit dirty when I got it, I've used it as a work vehicle for six months so they really needed doing!
Final straw was when I spilled a handful of lawn seed in the rear footwell, and there was enough dirt in the carpets for it to start growing!
Made a huuuuuuuge difference to how nice the car feels...
