My harmonic balancer tool is 1.72m long.
All together and packed, no leaks! Coolant temp was behaving very oddly on first drive, climbing and spiking at 105 very quickly and not shedding heat! However it seems to be back to normal now after a quick bleed and top up of coolant. Fingers crossed! Balranald by midnight or bust!

Started servicing the engine and trans.

Found more than a smattering of dust upstream of the air filter. No it wasn't a genuine or Mann filter....

    Genuine filters going in.

Fitted an oil separator next to the Power steering reservoir as there is nowhere else with a second battery in a TD5 Auto.

It is a an Ebay one as the Provent 200 will not fit and a 150 is just too much hassle with the brackets as the entry is part of the bracket.

I am quite impressed with the separator which is listed for a Nissan 3 litre . It has a stainless steel mesh filter and an overpressure and vacuum valve and 19mm inlet and outlet which is near enough to the outlets etc of the stock setup.
The brackets are pretty easy and there are 2 x6mm threaded holes down near the suspension tower .
Will post some photos when I can.
    Regards Philip A

You can get Mahle filters for oil and air in the V8. They may do filters for Td5 also. Made in Austria. For around 20 skins for the oil filter that is sweet batter. Cheers

I think Mann supply the genuine ones atm, at least the rotor filter is a Mann and they are pretty cheap.

The air filter I took out was a Ryco and it isn't near as tight a fit as the Genuine part.
Comparing the Ryco drawing dimensions with Mann is a fair bit different too.

I don't trust the lid of the air box though, I'm going to smear grease along the edge and see what sort of seal I have.

Rick I use a smear of grease and also one of those rubber slotted bungee type straps under and over. Tightens it all up nicely and easy to take off and put back on. Cheers
