Hahaha lucky buggers
Did my 350,000 service today and discovered that the double cardon joint had lost a grease nipple from one of the unis and run dry, chewed itself into the yoke and stuffed the shaft...
dilemma time, to buy a used one cheap or stump the money for a Woods shaft....
it was a good spur to make me fit the D2a CDL kit I've had here for ages....so now I have a fully functioning CDL although I need it to move until I put another shaft in!
Picked the D2 up from the doctor after having a heart transplant.
Took it for a quick test spin - all seemed good.
Payed the bill, went and filled with diesel and then decided to plug the nanacom in for the trip home to keep an eye on the vitals. Battery voltage was only showing between 10 and 11 volts. Decided to drive a bit further just to make sure - nope. Turned around went back to shop - a wire was not done up correctly - 5min fix and back on the road showing 13+ volts.
The 2hour trip home was uneventful after that.
Driving at 60km, heard a rotational metallic rattling/clacking sound. Thought I had done a driveshaft or diff. Can rotate both drive shafts about 5 degrees each before they take up slack. Can’t find anything out of the ordinary and ... the sound has gone. Land Rover ghosts?![]()

Cheers, Josh
