I have done some rough things in the past out of desperation, but never that bad. I'm quite happy to leave it the way it is, as all I'm trying to do is see if the parts car runs and the auto actually works. When I swap the tank back into my car I'll put the pump in on the bench where I can see it.

Well, I've been trying the latter, so maybe I'll try the former. Still, it fired up OK ( the pump, not the engine. Got to swap the XYZ switch next.).

    Angry Head gasket fun

Finally after a year or so it has come time to pull the head. All manner of cleaning and repair work about to happen. Pics of beginning stage. Head gasket leaking exhaust to coolant passage on 2,3 and 4 cylinders. All thanks to plastic head dowels 20180410_203322.jpg20180410_192617.jpg20180410_203614.jpg

I fit the seal in the tank first and if your have issues fitting the pump afterwards some rubber grease around the seal then fit the pump

    A Mann filter fits Ok.

In don't know what I will do when it's time to change the filter.
I must say the Mann filter was very heavy when I changed it after about 15 Kk so I reckon you should change them every oil change IMHO. I think it was soot that made it heavy as it was still heavy after draining for a while.

Anyway all done now including ujs and inspection.
    Regards Philip A
Buy your filters off Mario and Heather - you know they'll fit, and the price is as good (or better) than you'll get anywhere.
