Just wondering if you managed this without taking out the rad. Having just replaced the thermostat with the rad out it I remember it wasn't much fun wrangling the three pipes onto the unit in the massive space available......with rad in place would be rather more of a wriggle. I saw some other setup (might have been a BMW) where the same thermostat was fitted alongside the rad presumably with lengthened hoses and 100% accessible. I wonder if our D2s could be adapted?

SupporterEven tho the TD5 and V8 models have similar setups(with the thermostat type), the V8 is a bit easier with the rad in situ.
Obviously a lot easier .. in face very easy! .. with the radiator out in the V8.
Brothers TD5 hasn't needed a thermostat change, but you TD5 guys have close proximity issues to tensioner and alternator to deal with too.
We did brothers waterpump last week, and fuel cooler seals, and I remember looking down at the thermostat thinking .. bit of a PITA .. but maybe not so bad if attacked from underneath.
the orientation of the thermostat is another difference between the two motors.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

AT RESTJust found the LH rear hub seal leaking.
Hopefully it's just a blocked breather.
Yes, that's very wishful thinking.....

Cause i have replaced 2 with aftermarket n they lasted only a couple years b 4 the 3 amigos came back whereas the gen one i put on 5 years ago shows no faults...yet. The aftermarket units oil seals failed contaminating the sensor.
I am going to gen for all parts now since aftermarket units don't last eg fuel pressure reg sold out of Tas failed after 1 year then next one after 6 months. Also had issues also with Repco oil filters non gen abs sensors non-Garret turbo and so on.
Poor man buys twice I guess☺
