at the traffic lights a d2 pulled up next to me and give me a big thumbs up.
They handle well stock. A modest lift and better springs and shocks sees them lose nothing in handling. There were definitely parts of Cape York where the lift saw me complete the track where mine in stock form wouldn't have done it and likewise the D4 and D3 I was with got hooked up. Having said that as I get older I could go back to less capability and it probably wouldn't worry me too much.

Engine power down and later struggled to start so checked the connecter to the injection loom...and...yes oil present.
This is a new loom said to be better than genuine...but it leaks. .and has lasted <18months...so going to remove it and try sealing the connector.
Once cleaned, engine starts fine and engine power is restored.
Argh...when will it end....
Some idiot wiped the driver's door mirror off while the car was parked.
Good to be able to pick up a new one locally.

Done! Used a piece of builders steel strapping cut down to remove the stereo...
UHF aerial and splitter installed. Hopefully in country areas FM and AM are better.... although in the driveway without the engine running AM was still poor....
Oh and now to buy a UHF 2 way...
Pulled the loom last night cleaned and filled up the connector with 5min araldite. Cleaned other connectors and the gasket n gasket surfaces.
Gasket had shrunk so was a real pia to get back into position.
Reassembled in the dark.
Test started and engine was missing badly off idle with heaps of black smoke. S#@$ wife was stressed as the horse float was needed sat and 3 tonne of wood needed delivery.
Took off the loom connection and yes oil still there. So cleaned it again.
Slept on it and pulled the ecu at daylight. No oil.. good☺
Reassembled and restarted and whoa...engine runs fine.
Flogged it to horse riding with a ton and half of nags on board. Dumped the float..raced home..towed the wood 35klms up hill down dale. Dropped off the wood. Returned home. Dumped the trailer. Raced back to riding ..picked up the nags and riders n raced back home.
Near full tank of fuel used and it never missed a beat all day. Pulled like a train too.
Discos are trully challenging and rewarding on a daily basis!!
Here is one.... any idea what pulse rate the tachometer feed is? Is it 4,6,8.... or do I need to provide more info?
replaced drivers side airspring,, almost exactly ten years of service,, that takes me up to 5 replacements,, this one took me around 35 minutes.
