"Land Rover - making mechanics out of everyday motorists for nearly 70 years"
I made my own rear bar so needed to keep it simple and light weight. I raised..flipped the std spare carrier and put one jerry can swing away to the left the missus can still use the car easily ..which with 2 swing aways would be too much!
More fuel can alway be put up top..if needed.
2 spares is very wide and heavy too.

Another option(depending on budget and stuff).
110Nm torque limiting extension in 1/2 drive size.
I recently got a set(about $60 for 6), my set ranges from 90Nm to about 200Nm .. the 90 and 110Nm tubes have a very slim tube/extension tube section.
About the size of a 1/4" drive extension.
The main one I got the set for is the 135Nm tube for the wheel nuts(specced value is 130Nm), and I keep it on the extension wrench and 27mm socket I use for the wheel nuts.
This tube is more similar in size to a commonly found 3/8" drive extension tho.
Length is 195mm in total, neck length is 150mm from the front 1/2 drive male end to about half way up the tapered end of the female 1/2 end.
My thinking is that the set will be useful somewhere/somehow, mainly got it for the wheel nut ratchet, and being 135Nm gives you an idea of roughly where to set tightness(I needed an extension anyhow).
Have had issues in the past with extension shafts being too thick to fit into other areas, and the slimmest 90Nm extension would be ideal for the TC fill plug.
Obviously you won't use these to torque the fill plug tho!
ps. these torque limiting tubes work quite OK in practise. You easily feel when they start to twist/bend, and accurate enough for stuff like wheel nuts, or suspension nuts/bolts .. etc.
Wouldn't use them for critical stuff like headbolts, and whatnot tho.
On my test with the wheel nuts, they come in within about 5Nm of what the torque wrench gets.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Well my D2 did its best ExxonValdez impersonation yesterday and so today was spent degreasing it, the trailer and driveway and street......
The screws on the centrifugal filter had walked out a bit and well you can guess the rest....
It was due for an oil change so my current theory is it became self aware and took it upon itself to dump the old oil.
I am planning on installing a UHF aerial with a Am/FM splitter in an attempt to get better radio reception.
Any ideas on how to remove the stereo head unit without the special tools?
Or is the aerial plug easy to find under the dash without taking out the head unit?
