Fixed a few issues with rear door. 12 months ago I inverted my wheel carrier to accomodate my new larger tyre size which neatly dealt with 1 obvious problem but in the process created some new unexpected ones. In the standard configureation the wheel carrier offsets the wheel to the hinge side of the door. Inverting the carrier lifts the wheel centre by 35mm and shifts the wheel centre 40mm horizontally nearer to the centre of the door. As expected the vision out of the rear window suffered, but the re-distribution of the weight on the door now made the door feel heavy to open and close, and the door was unstable in the open position. The ramp and roller that aligns the door lock and catch when closing is now also showing increased wear. I contacted forum member RIJIDIJ and he modified a standard wheel carrier to lift the wheel centre by 40mm. Now that the modified wheel carrier is installed the door operation is back to what it was before and I’ve got improved rearward vision. Happy days

I have the wheel carrier flip on my to-do list for the bigger tyres and had planned to replace my carrier with a second hand one as mine has a fatigue fracture at one of the wheel studs. However, this modification by RIJIDIG, is a much better solution an kills two birds with one stone. Way to go, thanks.

wont need the filter strip as the fiberglass one dont have the air slots which is a problem

It was changed out to a uni joint set up when I had the 4.11 gears installed. Doesn't look to have worked very well!

I have a strip of pool filter material .. Clarke Rubber. Took some remnants of the gauze that was left over, showed the chap at the local CR store, they have long rolls of it.
Only problem with theirs is the colour .. but it's just a colour .. no biggie.
From memory about $10-15-ish or so with plenty left over
