My fuel filter decided it was tired of doing just one job, and so it chose to start sharing my expensive diesel with the general environment.... Found a spare in the cupboard. I was doubtful it was the seal that had failed, but the new one doesn't leak.....

And a month later the FPR decided to start leaking. I suppose that the injector washers are next ☹️

I bought a couple spare fpr gaskets last time to be prepared, I also use Tdi injector washers, ridge facing down towards seat, had flat Td5 washers cause issues occasionaly but Tdi have never needed a second go.

I have 20 injectors, multiple fpr blocks and sensors etc but I have slowed down playing with the engine now and just saying in my experience Tdi washers do it for me.

And bright work light a must of course to see if the actual regulator is leaking out the hole/spout or from around the O ring or the metal fpr block gasket.

The block has to come out anyway but at least you may get away with O ring and gasket without expense of regulator.

I bet a lot of mechanics do not realize that the TD5 injectors have a ridge on the base. the build up of carbon covers the ridge and it just looks like the injector metal until you start in very carefully with a sharp pick.

That's encouraging. And thanks for the washer tip. Didn't know that.

I had an oil leak!! My first thought...how unusual. It was around the alternator/front DS corner of the engine. Time to replace the oil feed and drain hoses to the vacuum pump?

Saw the price of the YKL100120 oil feed hose ...$375 plus shipping and an infamous Bill Bryson quote came to mind.
I did find a more reasonable alternative made by Pioneer 4x4 in the UK for $103 plus $60 shipping. They are well made and easy to install as the ends articulate unlike the original but just remember to tighten the articulation joints...don't ask me how I know.

The drain hose (ERR6996/SQC500010) is no longer available, not even aftermarket. So I bought some 10mm ID 17mm OD oil pressure hose from Pirtek (they call it 3/8 inch hose) and cut a 68mm length that did the job nicely. I could even reuse the original Norma Cobra 15.0 hose clips which are much lower profile than worm-drives.

Oil leak?...Nah, sophisticated anti corrosion system!

So, the little silver thingamajig spins freely in the alloy whatsit and the O ring is rock hard. Tipping that's not good. My spare one doesn't have an O ring at all, which is odd, but I never ran that engine.

Hope this works because AULRO on all my platforms is down. So, Shack , James, seems there's a point to Tapatalk after all.

    Hi John,
The site had not been working for me either, I was getting what looked like a modem or router log in page.

I've cleared my cashe and cookies now all OK
