No pushing in at the moment. The rear exhaust manifold bolt that had broken off must have been more serious. The head place didn't say anything about it but went to Bolt it up...could feel a cross thread. Ran a tap and was cleaning up...slipped and broke tap in hole. I knew job was going too smoothly. Will try needle nose right angled pliers to remove. Failing that manifold, head off and to a machine shop for removing and perhaps an insert and a stud cause the hole didn't look great. Cheers

Yep....was going too well. So mobile guy couldn't burr it out. That's the trouble with good quality Aussie made taps... anyway head off and taken to head recon shop and they did a cut and TIG with helicoil for 100 skins (good lads). Looks very neat. Big day today of reassembly and bring very finicky with torque values....coming along well now.
Tomorrow I reckon on starting it. I am doing fiddly stuff. Will backflush radiator and flush block then stick alternator back on and finish coolant hose connections and finish routing leads attach driver's side manifold to tailpipe ....etc....hold breath...start car...

    Cheers

75 odd pounds didn't feel particularly tight especially compared to the stretch bolts on the side Rover put in BUT whole different ball game with much less friction between nut and washers and head with special ARP lube on versus the thread of stretch bolts into the block and also the fine thread of the upper stud....so hopefully this all adds to even and significant clamping forces. From watching the video on the ARP website they put a lot of research into their proprietary lube and they reckon it yields very even values. The coarse threads in this kit go all the way into the holes and bottom out unlike the older kit that was designed for Buick motors (ie the kit some people complained about when using them in the LR motors).

    Cheers
