My take on Beale is,he is a idiot and should be cut loose regardless of the outcome of the charges. He has been given many chances and stuffed them all up. And any NRL club should be very wary if they want his services, even very strict conditions sometimes fail eg,Todd Carney. The Wallabies as we have talked about in earlier posts have very little if any sort of senior leadership within the team, and it also highlights why Hooper is not the right man to be skipper, and also putting all his support behind Beale,i think puts a question mark over the captain coach relationship. Young players when they are brought into the All Blacks team have a very strong and firm leadership group to help guide them on and off the field. This a key element the Wallabies are missing. I also think McKenzie is the best man for the job at the moment, the direction he wants to take the team is positive and results were never going to be instant. The Wallabies are a work in progress, with some promising talent coming through, but they need time to develop. It won't be long till the Wallabies are back to their rightful place as the worlds number 2 team![]()

Here's my two cents regarding Beale and his umbilical cord to the ARU. Rugby is forth on the favoured football codes list in Oz. Aussie Rules, league and I think soccer have the advantage over ruby in Australia (then we have cricket that beats them all). As a result rugby has a real fight on it hands to attract youngsters to get on board. The traditional Australian style of running rugby is attractive to watch and Beale can play good running rugby in broken play (which you never get against the Boks or AB's). The Australian sporting watchers love the physicality of beating the defence and scoring a try. Unless you really love the game and watch it Aussies just don't get that it is quite hard to score tries in rugby (or at least as many tries as they score in league). So Beale is a marketing ploy to attract people to Rugby Union in Australia. That is why he has managed to stick around as long as he did. Plus the fact that he is from NSW means he was a protected species under the ARU mafia in that state, despite his detrimental influence to the Wallabies. I'm just happy he's gone. The Wallabies aren't going to get to 1st or 2nd in the world until the NRC is a permanent fixture for Australian Rugby and our depth goes beyond 2 or three talented players per playing position. There just isn't enough internal competition to drive rugby excellence.
Disclaimer: I have no idea on the internal politics at the ARU so I'm probably speak out of my @$$.

Danial.

Depth has always been the hardest thing for Australian rugby, but maybe the NRC will go some way to help change that. As that article pointed out as a kid playing Rugby in New Zealand you dream of wearing that black jersey. Many things need to change in order for the Wallabies to be a force again. Simply hoping for another 'golden era' like when the Wallabies had players such as Tune,Burke,Mortlock,Eals,Waugh,Kefu,Smith, and even back a little to Horan,Little, Australia had a good run,but once they left the depth has not been there to cover the loses.
He seems a very grounded realistic sort of guy. I can't get my head around how the ARU works? He touched on something that has always bugged me about the All Blacks sacking coaches after any sort of bad performance. But it certainly looks like a very good read,I think some hints leading into xmas are in order.
