I meet a few unusual tools in my occupation, but not a many as you I imagine, Digger.
There must be a lot of stuff out there that fits the title feel free to post piccies or descriptions etc for us all to share!
So I am headed to a clearing sale today in between work and am hoping to pick this up.
It is a lister motor with a generator fitted to work as a battery charger! I had never seen one before like this.

This may be done every 3 or 6 months, and especially 3 months or so after a new car has been brought into use. Vibration will sometimes cause one or more to loosen and set up resistance to the passage of the current, as well as permitting the atmosphere to cause corrosion of the parts that should make good electrical contact.

I reckon thats likely it (cant see ad on my phone)
Maybe this could be sort of considered a tricks, tools and accessories thread for the Landys from series to the "later stuff"?

Ok. The motor is a villiers-- and it cost me $36 😀. (Which maxes my budget at the moment!!)

So I serviced the motor and found the major problem was that it still had the original spark plug that was actually coming apart!! New oil, fuel line, exhaust welded back together and a mechanical clean (outside is still dirty!) and the motor hums![]()
Now my problem is with the genny!! How do I wire that to what?

That looks like an old Lucas genny, posative to earth.

I know it needs a fanbelt..
What Im after is someone explaining to me what goes where and what does what here.
feel free to explain the mystery of sparkage to me... it mystifys me Im afraid...
I believe the small black box wires onto the smaller post on the back of the genny (these are 56 gennys, so neg earth I assume)?
I am hoping for this to be operational and Ill use it on my landys and my 64 massey ferguson tractor (which I found out is a 765 NOT a 65 ???)
