Agree not a one fit solution. But as stated we need to understand the problem before we can fix it. But the fix will not be easy or accepted by some.

nothing is going to make things better for those kids or the husband and the lad who killed her has to live with that for the rest of his life, fitting punishment would be the traffic offences plus manslaughter through misadventure... trouble is depending on the individual they'll either be very remorseful and try and do something good to correct the bad they've done... or they'll let self hate take over them for what happened and let prison turn them into a monster
it's good for you to feel compassionate , however all of those guys knowingly and deliberately road their machines unregistered , without license , without insurance, in a public pedestrian area and also without regard and most probably totally unroadworthy.

they deliberately and knowingly broke all of those laws

by being compassionate towards these delinquents gives them the comfort to reoffend.

there is not one single argument in any shape or form than can defend what they knowingly did.

As stated I fell for the family. But again look at the original footage a bike went behind her she did not react at all. Personally I think most would react to the sound. It is hard for the family they have donated her organs. But possibly also release a campaign for self awareness. Should the bikes have been there no. But they were so self protection is vital. My nick name at work for some was. WCSC. = worst case scenario Chris. Do I live in fear not at all, but I do protect myself from obvious situations buy staying alert, definitely a yes. Not all things are predictable but a lot are.
You're alert, that's great. Keep it up, we need more lerts. Maybe wear a helmet when crossing the road just to be sure. Worse case scenario....space junk, there's tonnes of it up there just waiting to fall on you.

A very hard decision for the family to decide when to turn off life support.
A situation that should never have occurred.
The only positive is that Andrea Lehane was an organ doner which was permitted by the family.

The rider off the bike has handed him self in to police...
Teenagers arrested after mother Andrea Lehane hit by monkey bikes at Carrum Downs

Listening to the radio there had been complaints of monkey bikes in the area recently.
Police would not say if the complaints where related when first asked by the radio presenter.
The channel 7 footage on the above link tells the story.
    Cheers, Kyle

Would it be cynical to assume handing himself in is on advice of his lawyer, intended to present as mitigation when it comes to court......

Bleeding hearts combined with all rights and no responsibilities, no wonder society is heading up its fundament

I'm on the same page as you, these mongrels would probably wear this as a badge of honour. The only (very small) good thing that will come out of this is the oldest is 18 therefore will be charged as an adult and I note he has been charged with culpable driving which I'm hoping will attract a jail sentence, if found guilty.

I tried telling my previous next door neighbours that now their grandson was 18 it all changes when he next gets pulled up by the cops.

He raced around the streets in an unregistered car and on an unregistered dirt bike, usually without a helmet, often with a pillion. The cops were called a few times but we never saw them. The kid is well known to police. I didn't know any neighbours that liked him.

His grandfather said they'd told him of the consequences but he didn't listen/care.

When the police do catch them charge them all with GBH and see which of them points to the culprit, then the charge can be updated to manslaughter
